Windows Live Mail Desktop – WLMAIL.EXE

Wlmail.exe is the executable for Windows Live Mail Desktop. At the time of this writing, the product was being beta tested. So the file appears in a folder called ProgramFiles%\Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta\. The Windows Live Mail desktop gives you a centralized location to receive mail from multiple email accounts including AOL and GMail with 2gb of mail storage. You can compose, organize and delete mail even when offline. Newsgroups and RSS feeds are also supported.

This file doesn't necessarily need to be running all the time. But if you like to check mail frequently or see it as it comes in, leaving the file in place could make sense.
