Win XP SP2 Security Center – WSCSVC.DLL

A file called wscsvc.dll installs as part of Microsoft's new Security Center for Windows XP SP2. In order to improve security, Microsoft offered the SP2 update to Windows XP users. This update included a new Security Center and Firewall. You can learn more about this update at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx.

If you're running Win XP SP2, you'll be able to access and configure your Security Center by going to Control Panel then clicking Security Center. We'd recommend leaving this file in place even if you have the Security Center features turned off.
