Symantec’s Common Client Application - CCAPP.EXE
Ccapp.exe is the Common Client CC App. It installs with Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360, and Norton Systemworks.
Ccapp.exe is the common hosting application that calls the different program features in Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security. For example, in Norton AntiVirus, if Auto-Protect and Email Scanning are enabled, then ccApp.exe makes sure that those programs are running. If ccApp is disabled, then Auto-Protect and Email Scanning will not run.
The file is required and should be allowed to run on startup. It should be left running all the time. Removing it could result in disablling your virus protection.
