Symantec's LiveUpdate – NDETECT.EXE

NDetect.exe is part of Symantec’s LiveUpdate utility that is used to check for and deliver updates to programs such as Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton SystemWorks, PCAnywhere, etc. NDetect establishes the presence of an internet connection then LiveUpdate delivers the update.

LiveUpdate is a very important feature for users of Norton Antivirus. It checks for and retrieves the latest virus definitions to make sure you are fully protected. For this reason, we'd recommend leaving this file in place. Other files that belong to LiveUpdate and may appear on your system include: luall.exe, lucomserver.exe, luinit.exe, luprodreg.exe and lusetup.exe.
