Virus Warning – ABSR.EXE
Files called ABSR.EXE and BVT.EXE are the main components of a program called "BrowserToolbar," an Internet Explorer add-in. These programs filter incoming and outgoing HTTP traffic caused by the browsers. These components also install themselves to system and create startup keys in System Registry for themselves. These programs generate popup ads and may also gather personal information. They often installs silently on your system without your intentionally downloading them.
These programs are also part of the Backdoor.Autoupder (Kaspersky Anti-Virus), Downloader-W (McAfee), BrowseEvt (after the spyware component it installs), TROJ_SUA.A (Trend Anti-Virus). We would strongly recommend removing them.

Ad Aware – AD-AWARE
AdAware is a program by LavasoftUSA that searches for "adware" or "spyware" programs on your system. These are programs installed without your knowledge or permission that collect data (websites you visit, programs you have installed, etc) and transmit it to a company willing to pay for such data. Other types of programs create additional popup ads that annoy you while you browse the web. These programs can violate your privacy and degrade system performance.
AdAware searches your hard drive and registry then gives you the option of removing these programs. Sometimes removing Adware will cause the program service that installed it to stop working. For example, removing adware called "Gator" will cause KaZaA to stop until Gator is reinstalled. AdAware is a very useful tool. It can be removed from your Startup group and run from the Programs menu or desktop icon if you prefer.

Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
Installed by Photoshop, ImageReady and some other Adobe products used to help calibrate your monitor.
This program can be used by any application which supports ICC profiles
From Adobe.com
By calibrating your monitor at the system level, Adobe Gamma enables you to
eliminate unwanted color casts from your monitor and to obtain the best display
possible for your work environment. In addition, Adobe Gamma characterizes your
monitor by means of an ICC profile, which is a file that includes a description
of the characteristics of your monitor. This profile can be used by any
application that uses ICC profiles to compensate for a monitor's color-display
limitations. Accurately calibrating and characterizing your monitor is the
crucial first step in developing a color-managed workflow.
The Photoshop installer installs Adobe Gamma control panel (Adobe Gamma.cpl)
into the Windows/System folder (Windows Me and 98) or the Program Files/Common
Files/Adobe/Calibration (Windows 2000), and it installs the Adobe Gamma loader
application (Adobe Gamma Loader.exe) into the Program Files/Common
Files/Adobe/Calibration folder. In addition, it installs a shortcut to the Adobe
Gamma Loader application in the Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Startup folder
(Windows Me and 98) or the Documents and Settings/All Users/Start
Menu/Programs/Setup (Windows 2000). As a result, the Adobe Gamma loader
application appears in the Start > Programs > Startup menu and starts
automatically during Windows startup.
While loading Adobe Gamma.cpl during Windows startup, the Adobe Gamma Loader
application applies settings in the Adobe Gamma.cpl file to the system and
applies calibration settings you saved for your monitor at the system level.
Various errors have been reported using this program with older ATI and STB video cards.

Adobe Download Manager - ADOBEDOWNLOADMANAGER
When you go to Adobe’s website and start a download of one of their programs such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader, they send a file to you called Adobedownloadmanager.exe. This file, in turn, starts the download of the Acrobat reader or other file you’ve selected.
Once the download and install is complete, this program should remove itself from your startup files. The fact that you still have it listed may indicate a download or install of some Adobe software that didn’t finish properly. Or it may indicate that you haven’t rebooted your system since installing an Adobe program. First, try rebooting. If the file is still there, it can be removed manually.

Having ASDAPI.EXE or "LoadPowerProfile windir%\ASDAPI.exe" in your startup or active task list may indicate that you have the Backdoor.Cabro virus. This virus allows unauthorized access to your computer. It impacts Windows 95, 98, 98r2, Me, 2000 and XP as well as Win 3.x, Mac, Unix, Linux and Microsoft IIS.
Backdoor.Cabro is a server that is used for backdoor access to a compromised computer. The port that is used for access is configured upon infection. It gathers configuration information, such as the registered owner, organization, product ID, and serial number. It also launches IRC bots if an IRC program is installed. When Backdoor.Cabro runs, it copies itself as C:\Windows\ASDAPI.exe and runs as a service. More information and cleanup instructions from Symantec can be found by clicking here.
