New WinPatrol 24.6.2012
April 15th, 2012
One of the major complaints with the last versions of WinPatrol has been the
option to automatically run WinPatrol on startup. We narrowed down the code
where Windows 64 was redirecting the location used to auto run WinPatrol. The checkbox found in the Options tab will
now maintain its status as it always has.
This "Automatically run WinPatrol..." option controls the small
monitor component of WinPatrol that detects changes without slowing you down.
Most people who had problems will be happy that Scotty will
always on patrol again. Many others use the WinPatrol Explorer tabbed interface but have other programs they prefer as a heuristic
monitor. This will work tor them as well
A number of XP users had reported problems which have been tracked
down to the use of newer development tools. While our only XP machine won't
accept the SP3 update our XP SP3 emulator is now much happier with this new version. I'll continue to work
with any XP SP3 users who report problems.
I had also neglected special features available to Windows 64 bit XP users.
This configuration is apparently more popular than our stats indicated.
My goal continues to try supporting every version of Windows available with a single code base. Next stop Windows 8!

New WinPatrol 24.5.2012
March 25th, 2012
Build 24.5 has some changes in both WinPatrol and our installation program. This version addresses two major reports.
One relates to WinPatrol crashing for no obvious reason. The other report is that WinPatrol wasn't always running
when the computer started.
Our previous version also had more than its share of trouble trying to "Kill" programs
that were running. Thanks to the Microsoft engineers who
offered tips at our recent Most Valuable Professional summit.
New WinPatrol 24.3.2012
February 24th, 2012
I once wrote about how
Windows versions are like snowflakes. These days there are so many versions,
so many service packs and so many bad acting applications it’s almost impossible
test new software. Add to this all the changes made for 64 bit machines and
problems grow exponentially.
The release of WinPatrol 2012 has been fairly smooth but a handful of regular
WinPatrol users have reported some bizarre behavior. Some reports made no sense
at all. In hopes of continuing a single version of WinPatrol I’ve consulted with
some great minds at Microsoft and this version has resulted in many suggested
changes.
Since most changes are technical I won’t go into the internal updates that
occurred. One change was to remove some of my assembler/machine code which was
useless on 64 bit versions of Windows. The Microsoft C compiler has continued to
optimize our monitoring code so tests show our real-time monitoring continues to
be faster than any other malware monitor on the market
My plan is to continue making improvements to WinPatrol and hopefully all my
future Emails will be requests for lost PLUS codes and not bug reports. I will
be spending next week in Redmond continuing to receive assistance from the
experts at Microsoft. I’m sure it will be a productive week for all
WinPatrol and security minded fans.
Installation is recommended right over your current WinPatrol in the default
folder. No Uninstall of previous version necessary.

This tiny program runs in the background without slowing you down. Scotty works
and plays well with others so you won't find conflicts with other security based
